RCR Training Camp #1 2009: Bellingham

23 01 2009

Last weekend the intrepid Racers of Recycled made the trek North to brave the cold and get some killer miles in God’s own Country.

DAY 1:

Last year’s trip was memorable for the ferocity of the conditions (anyone remember this?)100_1027 by you.100_1021 by you.

Well THIS year wasn’t going to be like that (so we hoped). We rolled out of bed, had a delicious group meal, and got ready to rock.

The Day One ride was… “undulating” to say the least, but the Riders in Blue and Gold would not be stopped and kept pounding out mile after fitness-building mile…DSC_5391 by recycledcyclesracing.

After the first 70 or so miles, the ride finally flattened out a bit and the pace picked up. The boys were pinning it for the last 25 miles!DSC_5402 by recycledcyclesracing.

The sun was out, and with the RCR van there supporting the team, it kept the pace constant, with the only stops being for stop signs and flat tires.(There’s nothing better than getting motorpaced back up to the group after a wheel change!)DSC_5425 by recycledcyclesracing.

It was a great ride, with almost 100 miles covered. DSC_5405 by recycledcyclesracing.

The best part being that a few guys turned off at the 70 mile mark and went back to the house to make sure that a GREAT meal was waiting for the team (after some showers, of course!).

A huge thanks go out to these 3 guys: Carl, TBD and Steve. (and a special thanks to Tyler Blake Davis –center– for making the meals all weekend!).DSC_5422 by recycledcyclesracing.

The rest of the day passed with stretching, food, Bicycle-related movies, MORE food, and that evening, a visit by the Raleigh Fairy!!!
