I learned how to say “2″ in french! (my mom would be so proud!).
Anyway. The ‘Cross season continues, and last weekend (due to circumstances beyond their control) the SCS folks moved the race to the hallowed local ground that is South Seatac Park.
The air was clean, the course was new (how they did it, I’ll never know!), and the racing was great!

The second installment of the Seattle Cyclocross Series got underway on Sunday with a return to familiar ground. South Seatac Park is an old suburban development that was demolished and has been allowed to go back to nature. 
The Tight, twisting trails, sand pits, random asphalt stretches and planes flying (what seems like) just feet above our heads only add to the unique nature of this venue.
It was another banner day for turnout, and we had folks in the Woman’s Cat 1/2, Master’s 3, Single-speed, Men’s Cat 4, and Men’s Cat 1/2 races.
This meant that we were there from set-up to tear-down, proudly flying the Blue and Gold Banner as well as hooting, hollering and making all manner of noise for all the racers.

Ingrid Spies in the Cat 1/2 Women’s race taking home 3rd on the day!
Tim Ellis showed his stuff even before the race by warming up on the rollers and then by coming in 8th in the Cat 1/2 men’s race!
The battle for the AMAZING WHITE TRACKSUIT OF CROSS is one of the most hotly contested competitions this team has had in years. 
The battle was fierce, but in the end, THE ROOKIE would not be denied with a solid 8th place finish!
The CAT 3 fellas (all of age, of course) have their own contest of sportsmanship and valor. The CAT 3 Keg of CROSS has been born! 
This week the battle was between the Nicks (Adsero and Brown), and was won by our hearty Firefighter Adsero. In an act of humility, the Lanterne Rouge for the squad must pass a fresh supply to the winner. Like so:
Of course, all of these contests are simply ways to keep the participation high and make sure we are doing something FUN.
It doesn’t mean that we aren’t here to win though, and we are always near the top of the finishing list!
It was a great day for racing, with solid results, a GREAT course that had a little of everything, and fantastic camaraderie. There was also something else. Something from the ancient past of NW Cyclocross…
